## What it is {#what-it-is}

The [Well-Advised](/remake/library/well-advised/) principle sets the test at the investment decision; the Assessment runs the same test **after** the money moved. It is the difference between the value a case promised and the value the organisation is actually receiving — priority by priority, without the mercy of an average.

## What it examines {#what-it-examines}

A live AI investment — or a whole portfolio — against the five strategic priorities: the innovation actually shipped, the customer value actually experienced, the operational improvement actually measured, the governance maturity actually built, and the financial return actually banked. The inputs are the initiative's own claims: the case it was approved on is the baseline the assessment reads against.

## The readings {#the-readings}

A per-priority reading — realising, under-delivering, or silent — and the shape across all five. The tell-tale patterns each carry their so-what: value collapsing into the financial column signals a cost case that was dressed as strategy (revisit the portfolio balance); strong delivery against a weak original case signals value the organisation never priced (recapture it in the next case); silence in responsible transformation signals risk accruing as savings are booked.

## Running it {#running-it}

Periodically, portfolio-wide — the assessment is a review-cadence instrument, not a launch gate. Each initiative owner brings evidence per priority against the approved case; the Board reads the five-column picture across the portfolio. Paired with Maximum Fidelity, each reading also carries the quality of its own evidence.
