New York has some of the best restaurants in the world, but since the pandemic many of my favourite hangouts have closed down. So in my visits back to New York I had to re-aquaint myself with the city’ dining scene. Here are my favourites:
Bergdorf Goodman
Lunch at Bergdorf Goodman restaurant on the top floor of the ladies wear store.

RH Rooftop
Dinner/Lunch at RH Rooftop (oh and it’s a home furnishing store)
Salon de Ning
Drinks at the Penninsula Rooftop bar - Salon de Ning
River Cafe
Dinner at The River Cafe (dinner jacket needed) it’s under the Brooklyn bridge and looks out at Manhattan. Ask for a window seat
Joseph Leonard
Lunch and cocktails at Joseph Leonard - right by the Christopher Street memorial
Grand Central Station Oyster Bar
Lunch or dinner at Grand Central Station Oyster Bar it’s an institution also see the station at the same time
Katzs Deli
From When Harry Met Sally and ‘that’ scene.
Magnolia Bakery
Magnolia bakery for the cakes and bread

Walk the Highline.

The Costime Institute at the Met

Visit the Museum of Modern Art and shop in their store it’s fun

Visit the Plaza Hotel just for Home Alone 2 vibes
Sex and the City bus tour
Do the Sex and the City bus tour
Statue of Liberty
Ground Zero / World Trade Center
Top of the Rock
Empire State Building Observatory
The Circle Line
A boat trip around Manhattan
Central Park
Go for a stroll through Central Park and see Strawberry Fields (the beetles)
Dakota Building
See the Dakota building where John Lennon was shot
Gay History
Be a Good Gay or an Enlightened Ally and make sure you visit these spots to get your gay history fix.
The Stonewall Inn
Visit Christopher Street and see where the Stonewall riots started and the gay rights movement. Take a picture outside the stonewall bar but don’t go in. It’s a dive.
Shopping
Shopping obviously. Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s. Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Tiffany, oh and the shops on Madison Avenue are better than those in Fifth in my opinion
