About Me
I’m a Chartered Director and Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD), with three decades spanning software engineering, entrepreneurial leadership, and enterprise transformation. Businesses are being remade around AI and emerging technology, and my work is leading that remaking: executing it inside the business, and advising the Boards accountable for it. Today I’m Head of Applied AI & Emerging Technology Strategy at Amazon Web Services (AWS).
I speak internationally, at AWS re:Invent and AWS Summits, Gartner roundtables, and the IoD’s Chartered Director Conference, as well as privately with Boards, which is where the real thinking tends to happen.
I’m the author of The Great Remaking, the thesis that AI is remaking the work itself, and the creator of Remake: one framework for the Board that governs a remaking and the operators who execute it. It draws on my Remake Library, including the AI Stages of Adoption, the Five Pillars of AI Capability, the Well-Advised methodology, and Minimum Lovable Governance, and my work is cited in the IoD’s 2025 business paper, AI Governance in the Boardroom.
It all comes back to the same aim: organisations remade around AI well, and Boards governing the change with confidence.

Every organisation does four kinds of work: thinking, deciding, creating, and delivering. AI is remaking all four. The Remake framework is my own work, built across three decades of leading businesses through technological change, and it serves both relations to that remaking: the Board that governs it and the operators who execute it, working from the same questions and the same picture of the work. It establishes what the work is, who does the remaking, who is accountable for it, and how it is actually done.
